The TCL 65S405 vs 55S405 intercomparison is the best way to see that within the one series (S405) the TCL is able to produce different devices with their own peculiarities. Both models were presented in the 2017 year and belong to the low price category. The 55S405 has more than 4.000 streaming channels and 4K Ultra HD picture, while the 65S405 is able to surprise the user with Direct-lit LED and 120Hz refresh rate.
Both models have an average picture quality, but I have an opportunity to compare TCL 65S405 versus 55S405 and find out that some intricate details can be lost on the first device. There is no image clarity and the settings by default make the picture too artificial with exaggerated red and green colors. The second TV has better picture clarity and less bright colors.
The 65S405 demonstrates me the ease of the Roku Smart use thanks to its understandable home menu. All the software updates automatically. Such a process has a bad influence on the Hulu because its service intermittently freezes and the sound lags behind video appear. The 55S405 has no problems with updating but after the Amazon video enabling, the screen starts blinking. The 55S405 is turning on within 4 seconds, while the 65S405 needs only 2 seconds. The sound is enough to hear the low whisper.
The TCL 55S405 vs 65S405 appearance comparison leads me to the conclusion that both devices look almost the same. The first model has vast legs, which securely hold the screen itself; while the second unit is amended by the thinner legs that protect the TV from wobbling and look more aesthetic. Build quality is great. Mentioned TCL’s units are supplemented by the metal back and plastic bulk.
