The Sony XBR65X850F vs Sony XBR65X900F comparison has started after the presentation of these TVs at the beginning of February 2018. The Sony XBR65X850F is a representative of middle-priced range, while Sony XBR65X900F belongs to the high-priced scope. Devices have LED display technologies, but the last one presented better picture quality. The 4K HDR X1 Extreme processor was implemented in XBR65X900F, while XBR65X850F could boast only a 4K HDR X1.
Both units could boast great pictures, but nothing is perfect. The Sony XBR65X850F has quite low contrast ratio, so in a dark room, the black seemed gray. The Sony XBR65X900F has not only an amazing native contrast ratio but also the full array local dimming support. Due to these peculiarities, the picture on the 900F series representative looked brighter and more natural. Models have problems with angle views, but Sony XBR65X900F surprised me with better display possibilities. The Sony XBR65X850F had great peak brightness in SDR, but after collation with XBR65X900F, it looked really dimmer.
The Sony XBR65X850F vs XBR65X900F compare process was really interesting. The first model had an intuitive interface, but due to a great number of inbuilt features, it was hard for me to find something particular. Thankfully, the Google Assistant helped me. I mentioned that after a long working day the unit has started to work very slowly. The second model has very specific Android TV interface, which I had to explore during the testing period. Very long home screen contained a lot of information and it was uneasy to perform the seeking. The Sony remote and the voice control peculiarity helped me control the TV.
The visual Sony XBR65X900F vs XBR65X850F comparison showed me, that both models had long legs. The bottom part heated up very quickly unlike the XBR65X850F. The borders of X850F were a little bit thicker than X900F. Despite the fact that both TVs are made from plastic the build quality was high. Nothing bad happened with its corps during the whole testing.
Due to the fact, that mentioned models have different backlight technologies, their thickness was different. The 86SJ9570 has Edge LED, so a very thin matrix has caused the corresponding subtlety of TV itself. Thanks to the Direct LED, the 86UK6570PUB has more presentable screen dimensions. I have no complaints about the build quality of both units.
