LG OLED55C8PUA vs LG OLED55B8PUA is the contest of values. The LG OLED55B8PUA represents the B8 series considered budget for OLED TVs. It originates in the year 2018, just as C8 series — the more expensive base for the LG OLED55C8PUA. The series has much in common, especially the connectivity and operational system specs. Yet, the picture quality and some enhanced options make the difference.
Both TVs of LG OLED55B8PUA vs LG OLED55C8PUA offer a high-quality picture with deep non-grayish blacks, vivid colors, lifelike textures, and efficient pixels handling. Meanwhile, the B8 TV provides sharper contrast and transitions in the standard dynamic range. The C8 model unveils its dominance within the light environment. To compare with the B8 performance, it keeps the highlights within the white scenes better. Another differentiating line is HDR. The C8 model provides more nuance and detail, features the lifelike colors. The B8 model handles the motion well leaving no blur or overlit spots.
Native 4K and HDR are the immanent features of both TVs, just as the upscaling function. The C8 model is equipped with a more powerful processor (A9 version), which makes for the high-quality upscaling, with the exact composition preservation. With the B8 model, the upscaling from the low resolution might result in the “stretched” visible pictures and less accurate color map of the image. It also misses the local dimming technology which lets the C8 model provide highly precise shading and highlights for all types of scenes.
For connectivity and smart features, there is no major difference in LG OLED55B8PUA vs OLED55C8PUA. Still, the B8 model might be a fraction less consistent in HDR playback from outer sources versus constant pin-sharp contrast of the C8 model.
These TVs look much the same, having equal size and weight. There is a minor design difference: the C8 model has the unusual rounded mono block stand, while the B8 model features more standard-looking one. Both TVs are very thin and lightweight.
