The Battle of Contrasts: Sony XBR75X940E vs Sony XBR75X900F

Sony XBR75X940E vs Sony XBR75X900F

Here is the comparison of two premium LCD 4K TVs powered by Android and equipped with mpressive 75 inches displays: Sony XBR75X940E vs XBR75X900F.

They belong to the following series:

  • X940E - is notable for perfect HDR experience with rich blacks and buoyant colors supported by the spot dimming technology. The motion blur can be registered, especially when viewing the picture at an angle.
  • X900F - features uniform HDR with nice deep contrasts and the perfect motion representation (due to the smart backlight operation). However, its VA matrix allows enjoying the picture merits in full only when facing the screen directly.

First to Check: the Picture

Sony XBR75X940E delivers the great experience with HDR content, which I got through Netflix. I was amazed by the smart automatic brightness control. The blacks are immensely intense and the contrast sharp. The Blu-Ray and DVD video of at least 1080p is awesome. However, the upscaling did not improve the lower resolution content but stretched it visibly.

With Sony XBR75X900F, colors are very natural and impress with the large color gamut. They aren’t flashy but warm and pleasant. Meanwhile, the edges are perfectly sharp and preserved well even in high-motion scenes. The blacks have a wide range of tones. Upscaling of Blu-Rays and DVDs does a great job, the image is very accurate.

Testing Features & Performance

I particularly enjoyed the fast and intuitive Android OS on Sony XBR75X900F. The setup took next to nothing via Google app, and the smartphone app enables almost full control over TV operations. With the Sony XBR75X940E, it is the same except for having had to tweak the HDMI settings in order to get the HDR content working properly.

The sound is quite decent on both devices, while Sony XBR75X900F vs XBR75X940E allows richer and louder audio.

Enhanced Build Quality versus Exquisite Design

Both TVs belong to an ultra-slim class. Sony XBR75X940E is 0.43 inch thinner; yet, it is heavier. The design of both TVs is minimalistic, with thin frames and a large display area. The legs of Sony XBR75X900F are heavier and thicker, which ensures more reliable build quality, while the Sony XBR75X940E represents an interesting design solution.
