No essential differences exist if comparing Optoma HD143X vs HD142X in terms of implemented techs. Both devices are 1080p home theater DLP projectors that are able to produce sharp images, don't need any filters and have a good response time, as well as 3D capabilities.

Both projectors’ contrast ratio is good (23000:1) that makes whites whiter and blacks blacker. Besides, they have built-in speakers that allow dispensing speakers if there’s no need to get a loud sound (while gaming or watching movies in a small bedroom, for example).
