Are you considering the purchase of a new soundbar? If so, you may be wondering which of the two titans in the speaker industry, Samsung and Bose, has the better product.
In this article, we’ve compared the two soundbar companies head-to-head so that you can determine which product is the right fit for your needs.
As far as design goes, Samsung’s products are excellent in all ways. They have a sleek appearance and various cords are included with most models so that the user can easily connect to almost any device.
Similarly, the eye-catching design of Bose devices will not disappoint. Android devices pair easily with the soundbar, and intuitive indicator lights make it clear how to use the device to even the most non-tech-savvy user.
Most of the Samsung models have multiple sound modes, which can be adjusted according to the intended listening experience. For example, the Samsung HW-M360/ZA has 5 distinct sound modes. Further, this model can generate between 20 Hz and 43 kHz.
Not to be outdone, Bose soundbars are able to catch some of the most nuanced tones that might be included in a movie or TV show. The sounds produced by Bose make one feel as if he is fully immersed in the scene taking place on the screen.
The Bose Soundbar 700 can produce between 51.1 Hz and 19.6 kHz, while the Bose Solo 5 can generate between 57.4 Hz and 19.9 kHz.
Samsung soundbars range (depending on the model) from 2.1 channels to 7.1.4 channels. Specifically:
Bose, on the other hand, offers models with 2 channels as well as those with 3 channels. The Bose Soundbar 700 has 3 channels, while the Bose solo has 2 channels.
Apart from the Samsung HW-M360/ZA, which does not offer WiFi connectivity, all of the Samsung models can connect using both Bluetooth and WiFi.
With Bose soundbars, the user is afforded similar options with regards to connectivity. The soundbars can connect via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Samsung models HW-N950 and HW-N850 both offer voice control through “Alexa” technology. The other Samsung models do not offer voice control options.
Bose offers the built-in option for voice control on all soundbar devices through both “Alexa” technology and the Google Assistant.
Samsung models tend to run a little cheaper than their Bose counterparts, but that is not to say that they are inferior in quality. Some models of Samsung can be found for as low as $150.00 on Amazon. Unfortunately, many of the Samsung soundbars were out of stock at the time of this article being written.
Bose models run from $300.00 at the low end, to as much as $800.00 at the upper end of the price range. Obviously, the pricier models include more features than the less expensive ones. But the core features of the product such as sound quality remain consistent throughout the various models.
Unless you have very technical requirements, you would likely be happy with either brand of soundbar.
Both products are well-designed, regardless of model, and produce excellent sound that anyone would be happy to have in their home. If the connectivity and voice control features are worth the slightly higher price to you, you should go with a Bose product. If you are comfortable without these features and want to save a few bucks, you might consider going with a Samsung.
