Marantz SR5013 vs Pioneer VSX-LX503 have all the same audio decoders like Dolby surround, Dolby Atmos, Dolby digital plus, Dolby True HD, DTS:X and DTS neural:X. So you can play and experiment with all these features in your private home cinema.

Both AV receivers play Apple Lossless, AAC, DSD, FLAC, MP3 and WAV. Marantz SR5013 also plays WMA. FM/AM 40 channel digital radio is also available for both receivers. Also, they both have a built-in clock with a timer.

Pioneer VSX-LX503 vs Marantz SR5013 has some really cool additional features like a dual zone capability, smartphone app remote control, pure direct mode, auto power off, Bi-amplifying, Apple air-play support, and Air studios monitor certification. Pioneer also has a third zone added.

The Theater-Dimensional Virtual Surround sound effect is the only effect used for both receivers. Pioneer VSX-LX503 has a 9.2 channel surround system versus Marantz SR5013 with a 7.2 channel system class.

Connections & Setup

Both receivers have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and IEEE. Design

Both receivers have a symmetrical minimalistic black metal matte design. Marantz SR5013 has a stylish round black display with white fluorescent letters. Pioneer VSX-LX503 has a rectangular black display with yellow fluorescent letters.

Pioneer VSX-LX503 pros & cons

Pros:

  • The menu is fairly simple and easy to use and to understand.
  • The system handles all the different channels greatly, all the inputs and capabilities work together greatly.
  • Really affordable for around $800.

Cons:

  • The subwoofer control might be off balance according to some customer reports.
  • Customer support might be pretty hard to reach.

Marantz SR5013 pros & cons

Pros:

  • Bluetooth worked really well with no delays or gaps.
  • A-B speaker switch works amazingly giving you more options to control the sound channels in your home cinema.
  • It is pretty light and efficient, only 22 pounds.

Cons:

  • The setup might be a bit too complicated for an unprepared person that is not into technology.
  • The power consumption is too much, there are more efficient options at the same price point.
