I have been testing Pioneer VSX-531 for at least 20 days and already can say that it was happy choice. At first, there was not troublesome to install it. Setup and usage are straightforward. I simply plugged it in, hooked up a TV, did the setup, and used. Also, it has all standard USB and multiple sockets and four HDMI inputs, which is great because most have only two. But more important is sound. I am hooked up on it now. Phase Control makes a join sound between speakers, wherever I place them. Ideal for usage with WMA, AAC and MP3 files played makes sound is so realistic and clear even at high volumes. Actually, both sound and picture are perfect. One issue that I would definitely improve it is a possibility to control via a smartphone, but in general, I recommend it, because such quality completely works off spent money.
I have ordered Pioneer VSX-532 several weeks ago and already ready to express my opinion on it. I did not notice that it did not support the Apple lossless format, thus it upset me. So pay attention to this point. But the sound is great! Bass is deep, highs are strong, so there is plenty of volume and rich sound. From a music/mp3 standpoint, the unit is really impressive. Also, phase Control provides synchronized sound. However, I cannot adjust volume for each speaker independently. It was pleasant to discover that the HDMI inputs were all labeled for the components. Moreover, it supports HDCP 2.2, so I stream UltraHD video, which is cool at such reasonable price.
Both Pioneer VSX-531 vs Pioneer VSX-532 belong to the “D” class of amplifiers and have pretty similar characteristics in general. Thus I was induced to compare them concentrating on the slightest peculiarities, which could be essential exactly for you. I had tested both and came up with my own receiver comparison of Pioneer VSX-531 vs VSX-532.
Both models are decent and both lack comfy functions such as remote control via smartphone. Also, both are able to play almost all audio/ video formats. While the main advantage of VSX-531 is auto power off and lower power consumption stand by (0.35 vs. 0.45 Watts). Other differences Pioneer VSX-532 vs VSX-531 are not so significant.
However, the most crucial peculiarity that you have to pay attention to is that VSX-532 is more powerful in comparison to VSX-531 (210 versus 140 Watts, respectively). In addition, notice that is lighter if it matters for you.
