Several days ago I decided to test and write the comparison of these popular manufacturers of receivers - Yamaha and Onkyo. We will consider and compare the pros and cons of Yamaha RX-V683BL vs Onkyo TX-NR676. What should you buy: the reliable Onkyo TX-NR676 or well-optimized and professional Yamaha RX-V683BL? Let’s figure discover!
Even despite the fact that the price of these receivers is relatively similar, the number of functions differs. Yamaha is able to produce not only 4K picture quality but also 3D movies, while its competitor doesn’t have these features. As for the sound quality, receivers produce a great and pure sound, but I don’t recommend you to listen to low-quality files via Yamaha. The developers didn’t add the ASR technology, that’s why your ears will hurt after several hours of this execution. Use Blu-Ray discs to avoid problems.
These receivers maintain Bluetooth function and Wi-Fi. However, if you use Onkyo, you cannot be in the setup menu and connect the Bluetooth device simultaneously. Make sure that you have the current input set to Bluetooth before connecting to the gadget. Both of these receivers have special smartphone applications, which you can use as a remote controller. The iOS app of Onkyo is well-optimized and it doesn’t consume the battery fast. Yes, Yamaha has the same app as well and it’s also compatible with Alexa. However, there is one pitfall: you have to load the MusicCast app to use Alexa and this software is awful. I had to spend more than 10 minutes to connect this receiver to the app. I don’t think that it has to work like this.
The weight of these receivers is identical (22 pounds). Of course, this aspect is very subjective, but I prefer Onkyo’s design because it’s made of high-quality and reliable metal. The front panel looks cool and stylish. I was really disappointed when I tried the remote controller of Yamaha: to change the volume, for example, you have to find the appropriate place and distance. Next, push this button several times and only after that, it will work. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
