Compare to other receivers on the market, both Onkyo TX-NR656 and Denon AVRX2400H look good, but how to choose the best among them? How to figure out which one suits your needs best? Let’s compare Denon AVRX2400H vs Onkyo TX-NR656 and decide which model is a good match for you.
The biggest difference as for me is the absence of DTS neutral:x in Onkyo TX-NR686 compare to Denon AVRX2400H where this one is embedded. Also, Denon has very small operational power consumption (185 W) so it will be suitable for someone who cares about the environment and the bills. The output power per channel is actually not so small as you would expect - 125 W, 95 W versus 100 W, 170 W that Onkyo has. There is a Bi-amplifying feature that Onkyo TX-NR656 has but that is not available in Denon’s model.
Both receivers have similar connectivity interfaces and have wifi, Bluetooth, and IEEE of two types embedded. Talking about physical connectivity, they are identical as well so from a functional point of view you won’t find anything different in both. There are 2 av inputs, 2 optical digital inputs and one coaxial digital input, 8 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs,2 subwoofer outputs, and slots for the USB and phone. Microphone for sound set up comes with both of these models, therefore, installation and sound adjustment should be straightforward for you.
One of the best advantages of Onkyo is its great remote – it is not overloaded with buttons and all labels are clear. As well, there is enough space to press a button – this is the only remote where I don’t slide on other buttons while pressing the needed one. I am still not happy there is no input selection wheel in front of the receiver, however on its own Onkyo’s design looks modern and well-thought. On the other hand, Denon’s overtime classics with two wheels and no extra buttons on the front panel are something that many people look for.
