Read MoreChecking Onkyo TX-8260 vs Onkyo TX-8140, one can find out two high-quality stereo receivers, with good functionality and plenty of connections. While not having developed video options, these receivers integrate the technology for reproducing Hi-Fi sound at a high resolution.
Both models let out 32 bit-sound, deriving it out of various audio formats (FLAC, AAC, WMA, etc.) The TX-8260 model has better sensitivity (106 dB versus 92 dB of the TX-8140) and higher total output. Still, the output per channel is the same for both receivers resulting in the similar dense sound with a good amount of detail. Prying into particulars of Onkyo TX-8140 vs TX-8260, the former has less total output, while the gain per channel is the same (80 W). Besides, its reproduction scheme is enhanced with the Pure Direct technology. This results in a fraction clearer bass of the Onkyo TX-8260 at the mids to lows transition and more confident lows.
Wireless connectivity makes a key feature to compare with these stereo receivers. While the Onkyo TX-8260 has the full set of wireless technology, the TX-8140 model lacks Bluetooth and audio network options. Still, its Wi-Fi works well for streaming and smartphone control. This shortcoming is compensated by four optical and coaxial ports allowing the user to plug in all the electronic gear (like DVD player or a gaming console) and control it from the receiver. Both receivers don’t have HDMA while featuring a separate subwoofer connection. The major difference between Onkyo TX-8140 vs Onkyo TX-8260 is the ability of the Onkyo TX-8260 to manage Zone 2.
The receivers have a similar outlook, while the TX-8140 is much larger in size. The TX-8260, though compact, is quite heavy (18 pounds). The controls layout is the same, with handy knobs and buttons, while the Onkyo TX-8260 has the brighter LED panel. The receivers have different color and texture (matte for the TX-8140 model and glossy for the TX-8260).
