Onkyo TX-8140 review & specs

Onkyo TX-8140: 21st-century receiver

Onkyo TX-8140

After spending hours looking at different receivers I settled for this one. As my Onkyo TX-8140 review, I think this device can do everything a modern user needs. This is a good one if you are looking for something simple for a 2 channel. It was easy to setup with only a glance at the instruction manual. The controls are intuitive and easy to use. The receiver produces a high-quality sound from our CDs and tapes, and the FM and AM reception are very good. It has crisp and clear audio even at high volumes. The only one, the knobs are plastic and feel cheap but who cares with the excellent remote.

Design

The receiver will look pretty stylish in an apartment or home. But the design itself is quite standard in the form of a black box with a polished surface.

Features

The main feature of this receiver is a very high-quality sound thanks to the ability to play all known audio formats and Wide Range Amplification Technology system. In addition, one of the best features is free Onkyo Remote app to play music via your smartphone and tablet. I liked the ability to individually set input source sound levels so changing sources does not change the volume level.

Performance

The device shows good performance even with budget audio systems, thanks to powerful audio protocols.

Sound Quality

Sound quality is great thanks to the Wide Range Amplification Technology system which creates an uncommonly well-focused and realistic audio image.

Connectivity

No problems connecting to my wireless network. According to Onkyo TX-8140 specs, it has built-in all the main interfaces such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Pandora, Spotify, Sirius XM, tune in, Slacker etc.

Setup

The receiver is very easy to setup and has a comfortable instruction manual. So you will not have any problems to start to use this device.

Conclusion

I would recommend this device for anyone looking for a reasonably priced stereo receiver. It can do everything you need. It has a nice pleasing sonic signature to boot. All the internet features are easy-to-setup. Sub-out is a needed add-on. This may be the first truly 21st-century receiver thanks to Wide Range Amplification Technology system and Onkyo Remote app. Wide Range Amplification is one of the best technology created by Onkyo which creates a crisp and clear audio even at high volume and using a budget audio system. But it could be used with much higher-end speakers and sources and deliver the goods in style. The display could use some more thoughtful design and it could be great to change cheap plastic details on the device.
