Features & Performance

When I decided to compare these receivers - Marantz SR5012 vs SR5011, I didn’t even realize that it could be so difficult to discover unique features of these products. However, I’ve found something special. First, I would like to mention that these devices maintain the Internet radio, network audio player, and also upscaling up to 4K. Moreover, if you want to watch 3D movies, these receivers will be useful. As for the sound quality, I didn’t notice any additional noises. The sound is pure and it doesn’t matter whether you use expensive disks or digital files.

Connections & Setup

Both of these products have a dual-zone capability, that’s why you can use this stereo system in two different rooms simultaneously. There are a lot of useful ports, but Marantz SR5012 works slowly if you want to switch between inputs. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I figured out that Marantz SR5012 is compatible with Amazon’s Alexa, but their Android application is not compatible with my Samsung Note 9.

It could be really difficult to set up Marantz SR5011 even despite the fact that there are step by step instructions.

Design

Well, I have to admit that these receivers are identical. They were created by the same company and there are no differences between these models if we are talking about the design. To be honest, even the product weight is the same – 22.1 pounds. All regulators and buttons work well and they look very reliable. However, there is a significant problem: Marantz SR5011 becomes too hot. I would not recommend you to use it for too long because the consequences could be unexpected.

Pros and cons of Marantz SR5011

Pros:

  • The sound quality is really great. Well, it is quite obvious because Dolby Atmos does everything better.

Cons:

  • The connection procedure is difficult because it takes so long for it to go through all the steps (about 15-20 minutes).

Pros and cons of Marantz SR5012

Pros:

  • The developers added the ASR technology, that’s why the sound quality is great even if you use mobile files.

Cons:

  • I have to disconnect the power cable in order to apply new HDMI settings.
