Features & Performance

Marantz SR7012 as well as AV7703 support Dolby Atmos, Dolby surround, and Dolby TrueHD. DTS neural:X and DTS:X formats also contribute to a stunning surround sound effect. They both handle full-rate 4K Ultra HD, providing ultra-widescreen aspect ratio. So the image and sound combination is really impressive.

The receivers differ in the number of channels (11 in Marantz AV7703 versus 9 in the SR7012), and the channel output power (125W vs 100W / 120W), but it doesn’t influence sound quality. The difference is slightly distinguishable and doesn’t spoil the impression.

Marantz AV7703 has 7 AV inputs, meanwhile, the SR7012 has only 2. Both models have the same number of HDMI ports: 8 inputs and 3 outputs. The devices provide SD and HD analog video transcoding, which let you enjoy optimum video quality.

Traditional Bluetooth and Wi-Fi run smoothly. Both devices are Airplay compatible so you can listen to a wide range of your favorite music content. They have built-in HEOS wireless multi-room audio technology and free HEOS app, which let you listen to your HEOS speakers anywhere in the home.

The AV7703 provides you with an easy-to-use Setup Assistant and handy Quick Start Guide that help set up the device for your particular system configuration. Marantz SR7012 is also easy to set up. It has Audyssey MultEQ XT32 setup and room calibration that allow quick and simple tuning.

Design

The receivers look very similar so it is easy to confuse them. They both are presented in classic black color and have 4 silver legs that make them look stylish. The front side does not have any unnecessary element. A small panel in the lower part hides LCD display, various buttons, and connectors, in both devices.
