This issue should be considered first and foremost. This is an individual device which purpose is to receive electromagnetic waves of a certain radio frequency, with the wavelength from several thousand meters to parts of a millimeter, and then the next step is to convert the information that they hold to the form in which it can be used.
The very principle of operation is quite simple: everything is to select, amplify, and transform, the user needs signals. What are electromagnetic waves? It is a certain mixture of the desired signal, various other signals, to provide an antenna with an alternating current. The electrical vibrations thus obtained pass through the filter to separate the desired signal. After that, the signal is allocated the necessary information, and the resulting, thus, the signal, eventually turns into a view that is fully usable. Under the guise is a sound, an image, a digital data stream, a continuous or discrete signal.
Depending on the design itself, the signal can take the following steps: detection, multi-stage processing, which includes frequency signal filtering, amplification, frequency transformation, certain amplitude constraints, as well as the process of digitizing the signal from its further software processing, and signal conversion into analog form.
Best AV receiver 2019: which home theater receiver should you buy?
Amplifier vs. Receiver
To make the right choice between the amplifier and the receiver for high-quality audio settings, you need to know the following information.
An AV receiver is a solution that performs all tasks set before it. It consists of a tuner and amplifiers. The tuner plays the role of raising the audio signal. The preliminary amplifier in AV-receiver performs signal expansion to get the signal to the amplifier, respectively, then the signal active by giving it to the speakers. These receivers meet the requirements of surround sound and channels. More precisely, each channel has a match for each other dynamics.
What is the best option for the system and which option to choose?
Since this version not only enhances the audio signals but fully and completely compatible with modern technology 4K video and Dolby Atmos, giving you incredible effect and superb surround sound when watching movies with friends.
If you appreciate the sound quality and you are an expert in it, you should choose Receiver. It’s main aim is to create a modern stereo system for your own home. Your better option is to use Amplifier for quality listening. Due to a separate amplifier, you can enjoy the maximum possible sound speakers and get expensive modern technology that best suits your musical tastes.
What about a phono preamp?
If you are using a stereo system purchased from a store, you most likely do not know what role phono preamp plays. Special sinusoidal and technical diagrams are used in professional sound engineering in order to determine if a phono preamp is needed for its rational use and whether it is needed in the system at all. Since without this, you will not receive any sound at all or if you try to amplify the sound, you will receive a sound of an extremely low quality.
Many large speakers use the phono preamp and do work perfectly. It is easy to use because it reduces reliance of wires for connection.Besides, there are fewer potential problems that can cause some difficulties while connecting the system. However, the phono preamp controls the sound of music, since most people who play music at a professional level prefer to use an external phono preamp.

In this article you find answers to all these questions – why you should stop and think about your choice when buying the best receiver for a turntables.
You shouldn’t learn only describing information about the specific models and the functionality of each of them. To learn the fine grain I offer answers to more frequent questions that arise during the purchase.
We provided information which can help you understand how to operate the system itself properly, and many other equally important and necessary nuances, you’ll find it in our review that will help you make a choice of the best receiver for the turntables.
How to connect a turntable to a receiver?
Connecting a turntable to a receiver is not a difficult process, so you should not be afraid, it’s not a complicated process. All you need to know is how to complete the connection process is a few simple connecting points, and you are quite ready to listen to the quality sounds of vinyl records.
Option 1: Phono preamp is in the receiver
Everything is quite simple here.
- It is enough to connect the audio cable to the PHONO input on the receiver, after that connect the ground device’s wire to the receiver terminal.
- The receiver itself has a built-in audio amplifier, which is located in a special input, signed — “PHONO”.
- It is enough to connect audio signal device to the receiver input signal.
To minimize the noise that can come from your player, it is necessary to connect an existing wire to the input called “GND”, this will reduce noise.
Option number 2: Phono preamp is in the turntable
What to do in this case? To get started, you need to connect an audio cable to a specific analog audio input of your receiver.
- This turntable has a built-in audio amplifier.
- The receiver itself does not have a built-in audio amplifier.
- Simply connect the audio cable to your TV using one of your receiver’s analog inputs. These inputs are signed as Aux – Auxiliary input, Line In, Analog In, and others. You can also connect the input signal to “CD” or “Tape”, if necessary. More, no other connections should be performed.
Option 3: Phono preamp is a separate component
The system receiver itself does not contain the built-in audio device, so you will have to include it in the kit by yourself. From the first step, we connect the audio signal cable and the wire to a separate input phono. After that, we execute the preamp connection to any analog audio input of our receiver.
Neither the receiver nor the turntable itself has a built-in audio device.
For such a system, the process of connecting a separate external front signal is performed.
- To do this: connect the audio cable to the front of the phono adapter. It is also worthwhile to connect the ground wire to the input of the grounding station on the phono amplifier itself.
- After that, on the audio output of the phono preamp to a specific analog audio input of your instrument, connect the device to the power source, after which the entire connection process will be completed.
What’s a phono preamp?
This is a special cartridge located at the end of your instrument, designed to produce the minimum voltage, just the phono preamp needle follows pauses on your recorded music tracks. Also, the minimum voltage that the phono preamp produces must be correctly aligned and tightened before the musical composition begins to play through your receiver. Enhancing the sound quality is a function performed by the phono preamp, which also has names such as phono stage, phono EQ, RIAA preamp or preamp preview.
What if your turntable and receiver both have built-in phono preamps?
If your receiver contains a built-in phono preamps, you must always connect your instrument to one of your linear or auxiliary inputs instead of connecting to the input signal. It has two phono preamps since this is not the case where a larger number does not mean higher quality!
If your receiver has a built-in phono preamp, and there is a special switch on the player itself that enables you to turn on or off the built-in phono preamps, you have the ability to determine how clearly and precisely your speaker system sounds.
If you are not satisfied with the sound quality of your tuner, which contains the built-in audio amplifier, you can purchase a separate phono preamp which will update your system and amplify it with more qualitative sound. The additional amplifiers contain built-in high-quality circuits, and they also give the user an extra option — is a special setting in which you can provide and improve the sound quality and achieve better sound.
The more expensive models come equipped with built-in Bluetooth, which provides wireless connectivity to headphones, receivers for more convenient use.
