Fluance RT80 vs Denon DP-300F

Fluance RT80 vs Denon DP-300F: very different but slightly similar

Fluance RT80 vs Denon DP-300F

Having had an opportunity to test Denon DP-300F vs Fluance RT80, I’d like to share my impression here to facilitate your choice of a new turntable. Versus modern digital audio recordings, vinyl is analog. This outdated type of recording allows you to achieve a special sound of music inaccessible to digital technology.

Features & Performance

The Canadian company Fluance has released a budget model RT80, and the Japanese have made a good Denon DP-300F. Both record players have a belt drive and automatic rotation speeds are available between 33 and 45 RPM. They differ from each other cartridges, but in both record players, the cartridge is attached to an S-shaped aluminum tonearm with an advanced anti-roll system that adapts to each plate.

If you compare these two units – Denon DP 300F is a good turntable for vinyl records for beginners. You hardly have to complain about it if you listen to records from time to time and do not collect a solid collection.

Excellent sound, perfectly balanced, clear and deep, as well as reasonable design elements, will make it possible to turn these players into a decent home stereo system.

Design & build quality

Build quality is very good. The stylish and status table of the record players are made from glossy varnish, equipped with anti-vibration feet and has a neat cover to protect the device from dust.

The backing plate of these models is durable and of high-quality, since it is cast from a high-precision method under pressure from aluminum, which guarantees a smooth, even rotation and a deeper, richer sound.

Fluance RT80

Pros:

  • AT95E cartridge, which is considered a great phono cartridge at a very low price. I really think that Fluance has a big win with this device.
  • It is not heavy, it is easy to move, but it has enough weight to feel good.

Cons:

  • I noticed that it picks up electrical noise and any vibrations on the floor, so they need better design of this element to isolate the electronics.

Denon DP-300F

Pros:

  • The ability to replace the cartridge and the use of a remote offset.
  • Thanks to the built-in RIAA phono stage, integrated cable with RCA connector, it is possible to connect the player directly to the line input of an amplifier or receiver.

Cons:

  • The transparent cover is very easy to scratch.
  • Honestly, it seemed to me that the price is too high.
