Sony always brings new home speakers to CES. This was no exception. The company introduced several solutions, the most interesting - HT-Z9F. This is a soundbar support Dolby Atmos surrounds sound in 3.1 formats. Of course, for a full-fledged Dolby Atmos, more than 3 or 4 speakers are needed, but Sony seems to be able to realize virtualization of surround sound.
Sony offers a convincing combination of high-quality assembly and an excellent feature set in a very easy-to-use product. Installation is very simple. Despite the fact that this is not my first experience in installations with a lot of music, his performance with movie soundtracks is very good, considering its affordable price.
Atmos-enabled soundbars are not new, but the HT-Z9F reaches its vertical environment a little differently than others. While other sound panels have upstream speakers that bounce off the ceiling to create the illusion that it comes from above, the Sony HT-Z9F specs are slightly different.
Design and build quality are excellent. The speaker looks very good, it looks neat and compact in appearance. The sound bar was well packed and looked great right out of the box. It feels sturdy, with a good design and a modern look. I liked the design of this soundbar: it does not look catchy, but it is modern and, by the way, very high quality.
There will always be those who claim that Atmos is simply not worth it without upward speakers. But for our ears, the 3.1-channel Sony HT-Z9F provided a very respectable experience of Dolby Atmos, despite the fact that it lacked specifications on paper.
Once it was tuned, I wanted to test its ability to actually play audio. This is a really exciting experience. Listening to live recordings, you feel on the show. It is beautiful and magical. It supports Wi-Fi wireless technology for streаming directly from the Internet аnd hаs options for instаlling in multiple rooms if you hаve more thаn one model. In аddition to higher sound quаlity, а Wi-Fi connection аlso meаns thаt cаlls, texts, аnd other notificаtions will not interrupt the plаybаck of music through the speаkers.
Connecting and installing a soundbar is quick and easy. I have a 4K TV, which requires several changes in advanced settings, but nothing in the manual will help you. Beyond that, just plug and play. The speakers come together when you connect them, and the “easy setup” wizards do not require additional thought.
In general, it will be difficult for you to find such good sound for such a small price. “Small” is relative, you are still looking at a sound system that costs almost $ 1,000 with rear channels. However, if you don’t want to go through the dark rabbit hole of specialized theaters with the right speakers in the right places (and let's be honest, you don’t look at the soundbars), I can’t imagine that you will find the best experience.
