Pioneer VSX-933: perfect sound and compatibility with modern design

Pioneer VSX-933

Pioneer VSX-933 is able to cope with pressure because even after a long working day, the device stays barely warm. It performs all the popular audio formats and can produce an amazing high-quality picture. It surprises me with different modes that are able to hide sound imperfections.

Design

Pioneer VSX-933 review shows that the front display is relatively big. I can easily read all the track’s names. The volume controllers occupy a lot of space on the front panel, but at the same time, they do not spoil the appearance of the receiver itself. The severe black design looks very attractive, making the unit a presentable part of any interior. The device has 21 pounds, but such a weight doesn’t have a negative influence on the practical peculiarities.

Characteristics

Thanks to the audio return channel (ARC) feature, I don’t need to use an additional analog or optical (coaxial) cable when connecting the Pioneer receiver. 1 HDMI ARC cable is able to perform the sound transmitting. By downloading the app, I can control the device via the smartphone. The connection between the receiver and the mobile program is easy and trouble-free. The “Auto power off” function is also very useful. I can easily see the built-in clock. A sleep-timer also works perfectly.

Performance

The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth perform their tasks smoothly. Even on the great distance, the signal allows using all the Pioneer’s features. The device can cooperate with an AirPlay and media streaming transforms into a very easy and quick process. The VSX-933 is a part of my Sonos Home Sound System and I can truly enjoy its possibilities due to the Sonos Connect and configurable music streaming abilities. Moreover, the Chromecast also creates all the conditions for my favorite entertainment content streaming from the phone.

Sound Quality

The sound is amazing! Even old records with some problems sound like concert hall reproductions. Thanks to the receiver I can enjoy 30 preset FM/AM stations in the background during the day. Even high notes do not ruffle my hearing. Despite the fact, that the device doesn’t have Dolby Surround Sound, the DTS Neural:X and Dolby Atmos produce very realistic and absorptive sound.

Connectivity

After Pioneer VSX-933 specs checking, I can see that 4 AV inputs, 4 HDMI inputs, and 1 HDMI output are enough for daily use. It has only 1 headphone jack that works well. The connection between the unit and other devices establishes very easy and such resilience is commendable.

Setup

The maker presents me nearly 100 various setup options and combinations. I perceive such possibilities as a nightmare because personally for me, it was hard to adopt the device to the environmental peculiarities. However, the manual has all the need information and the on-screen guide works as my helper.

Conclusion

The receiver is not perfect, but it’s a great choice for those people, who are looking for an amazing entertainment generator with awesome sound. The calibration system helps adjust the sound and the special guide – to perform other setting procedures. The only thing what I can do – is enjoying the high-quality product!
