If we compare Onkyo TX-NR676 vs Sony STR-DH790 considering the total power output, we will see that Sony wins with its 1015 W when Onkyo has 700 W. STR-DH790 uses the Advanced D.C.A.C. technology to analyze the room acoustics and calibrate speakers. Onkyo uses the AccuEQ technology to provide you with the enveloping sound. Design

STR-DH790 has two large knobs on the left side, a power on/off button on the right side a small LCD display, and a row of buttons right under the display. It also has two additional ports.

TX-NR676 has three knobs, a power on/off button, an LCD display, some buttons right under the display and additional ports. Both solutions come with remote controllers. Some people may find the Sony’s remote controller labeled improperly (text is too small).

The dimensions are 19.2x13.6x6.8 in for Sony versus 14.8x17.1x6.8 in for Onkyo. The weight is 15.6 and 22 pounds respectively.

Sony STR-DH790 pros & cons

Pros:

  • The setup and calibration processes are quite fast. It is easy to use due to the well-designed menu.
  • The total power output and the output signal quality is very high

Cons:

  • No internet connection.
  • Certain parameters are limited in terms of adjustments – frequency response is limited to a board bass or treble adjustment.

Onkyo TX-NR676 pros & cons

Pros:

  • Quick, and precise calibration – the output sound is well balanced without any bias.
  • Many features (audio enhancement technologies, streaming).
  • The menu is well-designed and modern – you can find everything you need without any problems.

Cons:

  • Have unreliable HDMI boards installed.
  • Firmware updating may take some time.
