The choice between Denon AVRX2500 vs AVRX2400H is a matter of price and sound taste. To compare the thrilling power versus the refined exquisite audio, I tested these receivers in different speakers sets (7.1, 7.2, 5.1.2).
The increased wattage of Denon AVRX2500 provides for a dynamic surge of the sound, deep palpable bass, and perfect crystal clear surround. It’s got edgy and rocking lows. With the AVRX2400H model, the characteristic “attack” of the Denon sound is more refined, with more accurate mids and especially highs. Attaching two Yamaha subs has added to the penetrating effect of the DTS:X sound mode while keeping the resonance very accurate. The difference between Denon AVRX2400H vs AVRX2500 is well traced in 7.1 set, when the sub gets more power with AVRX2400H model, providing an enwrapping and vibrating effect.
The AVRX2500 has more AV connections that enabled me to plug in my Blu-Ray player and a TV as well. I enjoyed the opportunity to compare the Bose speakers versus Yamaha ones connecting them via A/B switch. The Audyssey calibration did a great job, I only adjusted the settings a bit to my personal taste. With Denon AVRX2400H, the automatic setup amazes with the full and sharply distinct tonal difference. Alexa compatibility in both units is incomplete, as it works in-program only. There is no way controlling the receiver operation with the voice, while the smartphone control app is perfect for both receivers.
Both Denon receivers are rather big and heavy, featuring the same minimalistic design. Big dials and USB and phones’ ports on the front panel are quite handy. The remotes are pretty much the same, except that AVRX2500 model feels a bit more exquisite and expensive due to the softer plastic.
