About

Denon AVR-S750H: Clear 3D Sound and Voice Control Compatibility

Denon AVR-S750H

The Denon AVR-S750H is an entry-level 7.2-channel receiver that produces 75W per channel into 8 Ohms. It’s designed to become a component of a home theater.

Design

The unit is remarkable for its large display. The volume and source selectors are on the front panels, as well as source shortcut buttons. All the plugs are on the back panel of the receiver where everything is organized and color-coded for the easiest possible setup. The Audyssey microphone and stand for calibrating are in the package.

Features

The AVR-S750H supports such advanced formats as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to create surround soundstage. It features 4K passthrough up to 60 fps, but it cannot upscale low-resolution content up to 4K. Still, the device comes with Dolby Vision to enhance brightness, contrast, and to make blacks deeper.

The receiver supports multi-room streaming and has a built-in FM radio. It allows streaming music from Deezer, Spotify, Tidal, and some other popular platforms. The unit supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to stream content from mobile devices.

Performance

This Denon is powerful enough to arrange bookshelf, ceiling, and wall speakers into a single system. Note that the receiver does not allow for headphones to be plugged and the speakers to be active simultaneously.

The device features stable performance when the sound and a picture rise to the challenge once everything has been set up. Furthermore, the dynamic volume control allows bringing the low and high volumes into a moderate spectrum to enhance the experience during watching a movie, for instance.

Sound Quality

In this Denon AVR-S750H review, it should be noted that this model needs adjustments to deliver high-quality sound. Once the AVR is equalized, it produces clean, precise, and natural sound. The voices and dialogs are distinct and clear. In addition, they neither overlap music/sound effects nor become lost on their background saving the musical balance.

Connectivity

The Denon AVR-S750H AV receiver comes with six 4K/HDR-compatible HDMI inputs, one output, and HDMI eARC support. The USB port is designed both for charging and playing songs from mobile devices. Besides, it has digital ports (two optical inputs and one coaxial input) and phono input to connect a turntable directly dispensing with the preamp.

The AVR can be connected to a sub or even two of them. It’s connected easily to HDMI cables including the ability to process sound from the 4K TV if the latter has other sources of a signal (built-in tuner/Internet). The AVR features Bluetooth in/out and connects wirelessly to Apple's AirPlay 2. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant provide the user with voice control. However, the Denon AVR-S750H specs don’t include the ability to send a signal to the wireless speakers. This model has only receiving but not transmitting Bluetooth antennas.

Setup

The AVR has to be set up with regard to the sound source. To that end, it’s necessary to hook it up to a TV or a portable LCD monitor. The menu looks outdated, but it’s straightforward and takes a few minutes to work it out.

The Audyssey MultEQ Room Correction is implemented for sound calibration. This tech automatically offsets the acoustic distortions that are usually caused by individual characteristics of the room (its square, layout, the arrangement of the furniture, etc.).

Conclusion

The Denon AVR-S750H stereo receiver is good for the money, as it allows hooking up both analog and digital devices a smart TV, Blue Ray, game console, cassette deck, turntable, and an old-school equalizer. It’s easy to set up due to the Audyssey microphone and it provides a great sound quality.
