Design

Black matte body and plastic front panel can be called a typical style of AV receivers. The Denon AVR-1611 is no exception. Control and settings buttons and informative display occupy the front panel. Also, additional analog audio and video inputs are placed on the front panel. The back panel is occupied by the necessary ports. There are 5 pairs of screw terminals for connecting speakers, 6 analog audio inputs, 5 analog video outputs, and separate output for the subwoofer. There are digital ports (optical and coaxial) and input for the receiver antenna FM and AM. To work with digital devices there are 4 HDMI 1.4a inputs and 1 output. The disadvantage of the design can be called the absence of linear outputs.

Characteristics

Denon AVR-1611 is able of processing HQ sound using Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio technologies, which delivers powerful, dynamic soundtrack to your 3D movies. In addition, the device is appointed with Dolby Pro Logic IIx and vanilla Dolby Pro Logic to create surround volume at high frequencies at all receiver channels. A full set of DTS formats is also supported, including DTS-ES Discrete / Matrix, DTS Neo: 6, and DTS 96/24.

Performance

The Denon AVR-1611 has a powerful amplifier that operates in 7.1 mode with a power of 75 watts/channel. The receiver has enough performance to work with HD video, and also has the function of improving video and increasing its resolution. There is also support for 3D sound and video, which in conjunction with a 7.1 audio system create the effect of presence. There is an immersive effect, as the receiver perfectly conveys the soundstage at watching movies. The surround effects are vile and dynamic, and a clean reproduction of the surround channel and smooth steering allows you to achieve an extensive soundstage. Thanks to the good Denon AVR-1611 specs background sounds are also clearly audible. However, there are also disadvantages - the sounds at high frequencies sound very sharp and unpleasant, there are also dips at low frequencies.

Sound Quality

The receiver sounds decent. The vocals are clearly audible at all volume levels. The parts of each instrument are perfectly felt due to the surrounding sound. The AVR-1611 is perfect for listening to classical music or music, where high and middle frequencies are mainly involved, as the low frequencies are not deep enough and voluminous.

Connectivity

For everyday use with the AVR-1611 home multimedia system, connectors will suffice. Wireless interfaces and internet connection receiver does not have. However, there is the possibility of listening to streaming music. This is done with the help of iPod dock support.

Setup

Manual setup of the receiver can cause difficulties for inexperienced users. The AVR-1611 has a primitive screen menu and its complex structure. However, Audyssey Auto Setup, which uses the supplied microphone and test sounds to measure the room acoustic properties and the corresponding arguments and save it. After shutting down, Audyssey MultEQ, Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume constantly monitor audio content and maintain optimal settings.

Conclusion

The Denon AVR-1611 is a powerful representative of 7.1-channel receivers with clear and pleasant sound and excellent image transfer for relatively little money.
