The UN65RU8000FXZA is a mid-priced TV from Samsung's RU8000 series with such features as Dynamic Crystal Color Technology, 4K UHD processor, Bixby, etc. The present model was released in 2019 and has a 65-inch screen size.
I would like to start this Samsung UN65RU8000FXZA review by marking that this model supports 4K UHD and HDR, including HDR10, HDR10 , and HLG. The Dynamic Crystal Color technology offers a wide spectrum of color shades making the picture look more natural. The Ultra Slim Array technology automatically makes the colors deeper providing an impressive contrast.
The Samsung Smart TV platform is full of features. However, I think that the most important thing about this platform that deserves special attention in this UN65RU8000FXZA review is Bixby. This is Samsung’s own voice assistant that is capable of answering your questions about movies/TV shows, check the weather, and control smart home devices. Although Bixby works fine, it’s quite simple, so Samsung also included Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility so you could use the TV with more complex voice assistants.
One of the most popular Samsung’s TVs feature, the Universal Guide, is also present in this model. It provides simple control of streaming content and allows searching for your favorite movies and TV shows with ease. It also offers all the most popular streaming services, like Amazon Prime Video, Google Play Movies, Sling TV, HBO, Vudu, YouTube, and many others.
Among the other UN65RU8000FXZA specs, it’s also worth mentioning FreeSync — a special technology which is designed to lower the input lag making the TV as responsible as possible to give you decent gaming speed.
The provided remote control is slightly curved, looks modern and minimalist. It has a navigation pad, number button, Bixby button, volume control button, three dedicated buttons for Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video, etc. It may seem too simple, but, thanks to Bixby, this TV actually doesn’t need a complex remote control with many buttons.
The 0.4-inch frame around the display is made of plastic but looks like brushed aluminum. The TV stands on two straight parallel T-shaped feet. The tiny power button can be found in the center of the bottom bezel under the Samsung logo.
The TV is able to offer four HDMI ports, two USB ports, optical digital audio output, antenna/cable connector, Ethernet port, and both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections as well.
The Samsung UN65RU8000FXZA features a pair of 20W stereo speakers that aren’t able to replace a high-quality surround system as they don’t feature any of Dolby technologies but still provide rich and decently powerful sound.
