Design

The design of the Onkyo TX-NR787 has remained quite traditional and recognizable. The product has the same sleek, well-defined design with an elegant aluminum front panel.

Features

The novelty delivers 100 watts of power per channel to 8 ohms while simultaneously loading two channels. The main Onkyo TX-NR787 specs — receiver supports DTS: X and Dolby Atmos in configurations 5.2.4 or 7.2.2, and also have the functionality of Dolby Surround and DTS Neural: X upmix.

The receiver works with a 4K signal in HDR (HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision) and 60 frames per second with the BT.2020 color palette, 4: 4: 4 space, supports a 24-bit video stream.

Performance

If you have ever heard your favorite movies sound through the tiny speakers of modern TVs, when you hear the sound quality from Onkyo TX-NR787, your reaction will be a pleasant surprise.

Sound Quality

Sound quality is impressive. Great bass tones, exquisite mid-range, and full sound delivered. I connected my laptop to the unit and the sound came through loud and clear. I’m most affected and really happy with this audio system.

Connectivity

Equipped with six HDMI inputs with support for HDCP 2.2 on the rear panel (one on the front does not support HDR) and two outputs. The device is capable of playing music from Amazon Music, Tidal, TuneIn, Deezer, Pandora, and Spotify streaming services, as well as from Bluetooth, AirPlay, DTS Play-Fi, FlareConnect and Chromecast devices.

Setup

Setup was very easy. This model was the first which is equipped with the AccuEQ Advance advanced room correction system. The developers call it a “premium multipoint calibration system that eliminates standing waves.” The user can setup microphones at three points to get an “optimal scene after automatic calibration”.

Conclusion

As well, this is a good receiver for its price. The sound quality is very good. Onkyo makes some fantastic features loaded with receivers that sound great and don't break the bank account.
