The Yamaha RX-V375 is a good 5.1-channel surround sound receiver to start with when building your home theater system. With 100W per channel, it has enough power to drive small-to-average speakers while being offered for an affordable price.
The all-black design of this unit will easily blend with the other dark-colored equipment. It has 18 onboard buttons. The 4 Scenes buttons (BD/DVD, TV, CD, Radio) are positioned below the display in a separate row and are bigger than the other buttons. All of them are labeled. Except for standard indicators, the display also shows the title of the played song.
The buttons on the receiver aren't cluttered, and their placement is sensible. This way, I think the design deserves a perfect score of 10/10.
When comparing the current model to its predecessor (the RX-V373), I've noticed that the RX-V375 employs an improved amplifier and, therefore, better audio performance. There is also the Dynamic Range Control feature that automatically balances the sound level and improves the audibility of the speech. Such a feature is present only in quite expensive TVs.
The video features are decent as well. The receiver is compliant with playback of Full HD and 3D content and supports a 4K pass-through. Among the other Yamaha RX-V375 specs, there is also an FHD upscaling feature (via HDMI ports).
This model can't offer any networking capabilities, and, therefore, the wireless music streaming feature isn't provided. So, internet radio is absent, but there is an inbuilt AM/FM tuner.
This receiver is among the cheapest in its line, but it still has some solid features. Unfortunately, it doesn't support network features. Thus, the features set can be rated at 8/10.
Of course, this receiver doesn't perform as flawlessly as more powerful models from the same series. It may freeze for a few seconds in the main menu, but this problem is then solved on its own, and you don't need to restart the receiver. It definitely works better than many other models in the same price range. It performs an excellent job of processing 4K/FHD movies as well as music of many genres, giving a lot of detail to them.
So, the performance deserves an 8/10.
The support of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio codecs makes this receiver capable of boosting the overall sound quality. The Subwoofer Trim Control, on the other hand, is responsible for improving the quality of bass. If you play with sound options a bit, you will be able to make the sound of our speakers more dynamic, lively, and balanced. Plus, the Yamaha RX-V375 receiver can playback music in uncompressed formats thanks to the Compressed Music Enhancer feature.
The RX-V375 has passed all of my sound tests with ease, so in this section, it can be rated at a 9/10.
The receiver has more than enough connectors for basic needs: 4 HDMI inputs, an HDMI output (with ARC support), a front-mounted USB port, 2 optical and 2 digital coaxial inputs, 4 composite and 2 component inputs for older equipment. Each input may be named, and the volume level for each connected device can be adjusted.
The connector set isn't very competitive but good for the price. So, it receives an 8/10.
The Yamaha RX-V375 manual supplies clear explanations for the setup process. Thanks to that, I made all the connections in under 5 minutes. The YPAO automatic setup system automatically detects the speakers as you connect them, determines their size and distance between them, ensures that the polarity is correct, and sets the optimal EQ settings. It takes accurate measurements, so you have nothing to worry about.
For ease of setup, the receiver gets a 10/10.
Concluding this Yamaha RX-V375 review, I can assume that this receiver is a great budget complement to both FHD and 4K home theaters. The manufacturer, however, has sacrificed some important functions (network features, Bluetooth, DLNA) to keep the price low, but the device is worth its price.
