Design

It has two large knobs on both sides of the front panel (one is for input changing the other knob is for volume changing). A simple LCD display shows some very basic information. There is a row of buttons right under the display. There are also four buttons for scene changing. The front flap covers additional ports. The remote controller has all buttons you may need to control the device. The special design solutions from Yamaha prevent any resonance.

Features

This receiver supports the 4K video standard at 60 Hz. The colors are vivid and rich due to HDR10, HLG, and other technologies. This model supports the 7.2 channel audio setup with 5.2.2 channel DTS:X. It supports the Cinema DSP 3D technology. It supports multiple zones.

It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules so you access various online services or use the AirPlay technology. You can also connect MusicCast speakers using the wireless connection protocol. This model supports the Alexa voice control feature.

Performance

It has high-grade components installed, so this receiver works fast (menu changing does not take long). The 4K video is played without any lagging or stuttering. The total power output is 780 W. The quality level of the output sound is very high – it is clear and distortion-free.

Sound Quality

It has a Burr-Brown 384 kHz 32 bit DAC installed. Yamaha uses the YPAO technology for audio calibration. It analyzes the room acoustics using the microphone and calibrates your speakers. The Reflected sound technology analyzes sound reflection.

This model has 7 in and 2 out HDMI ports, USB, phones, 2 subwoofer outputs, and other ports. All ports are labeled so you can easily find the port you need. You can also use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules.

Setup

It is easy to setup since it has an auto audio calibration technology that uses the microphone provided by the manufacturer. It has many parameters to tweak.

Conclusion

The Yamaha RX-A880 specs show that this is a great option for people who value quality – it outputs clear video and rich audio. At the same time, it has many ports so you can connect everything you have. It would be a great option for people who need the heart of their entertainment center.
