The Denon AVR-X4000 has only 2 media content sources: network and USB-host. The total output power is high enough – 735W and the signal-to-noise ratio can reach the rate of 102 dB.
The Denon AVR-X4000 review allows me to see how laconic its design is. The source selector and volume controllers are placed on the front panel together with other plugs. These inputs and outputs are hidden under the safety bar. The device has a very impressive weight (32.2 pounds) and such a peculiarity is a problem because the specific furniture isn’t able to keep such a weight. The remote controller has an aluminum cover and feels sort of heavy. It is performed in a classic way and has all the necessary buttons.
The Denon AVR-X4000 specs demonstrate that the device doesn’t have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, but at the same time the receiver proposes 56 preset FM/AM stations, which work perfectly. It has a 3D pass-through and is able to demonstrate the picture up to 4K. I’m disappointed with the built-in clock. It doesn’t want to display the correct time. All the attempts to adjust the feature manually are useless. The sleep timer also can’t perform its task due to problems with the inbuilt clock. The receiver supports an AirPlay feature to stream the multimedia. With the help of a special app, I can control the whole system.
Sometimes, while the TV shows watching, I start to hear the distracting background chatter. It’s clear that such unnecessary sounds come from another channel and I have no idea how this happens. Such a situation appeared only once. Among the popular inbuilt decoder the Denon AVR-X4000 has DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD, but they are enough for all the details seeing and enjoying an amazing sound.
Due to the Pure Direct mode, I can enjoy the high-quality sound from all the inputs. I pay attention to the one peculiarity: it is impossible to choose such parameters, as Equalizer and Sound Optimizer when the Pure Direct mode is turned on. The device brings out nuances I couldn’t hear before. The short setting procedure is enough for having a professional movie theater sound.
The Denon AVR-X4000 has 2 AV inputs, 7 HDMI inputs, and 3 HDMI outputs. All of them work great and demonstrate the quick response. I have a problem only with an optical digital input. It is able to abruptly break the connection. The receiver’s reboot doesn’t help. Perhaps, the low-quality assembly is the reason for it.
The Audyssey setup is easy. All the steps are described in details and accompanied with relevant images. All mistakes during the seeing process can be fixed. The firmware updating has a good influence on the device because now some menu elements become clearer and features are easier to use. I don’t have the requirement for a manual. Everything I have to know is displayed on the screen.
The Denon AVR-X4000 is a solid device that has a set of only the most necessary and useful features for everyday use. It can’t cooperate with most modern services but gives the owner the great sound!
