The Denon AVR-X3100W is an especially great receiver for music lovers. It features both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to provide the ability to wirelessly listen to music from your phone or tablet. It also gives a wide choice of various radio stations and streaming services (Pandora, SiriusXM, Spotify, etc.).
The receiver is small, having 4 x 10 x 4.25 inches in size and weighs only 14.55 pounds. It has a black, square-shaped body. You can find a USB port on the receiver’s face panel that is very convenient to use for streaming music from your portable USB-enabled device and charging it at the same time. There are also four quick select buttons to choose the source.
To provide decent Bluetooth and Wi-Fi transmission quality, the Denon AVR-X3100W stereo receiver is equipped with dual RF antennas. The receiver’s Bluetooth technology is also capable of remembering up to 8 different source devices, featuring an auto power on and pairing.
The AVR-X3100W also goes equipped with the Audyssey MultEQ XT and Audyssey DSX which you can also use to add front height or front wide speakers. The AirPlay feature can be used to stream audio content from Apple devices. The Eco mode adjusts the power output automatically (basing on the volume level) with an aim to cut power consumption.
In terms of video quality, the receiver is able to handle 4K Ultra HD 60Hz and features the 4:4:4 Pure Color 4K.
The Denon AVR-X3100W AV receiver offers enhanced control capabilities. This way, except for the provided remote, you can control the receiver with your smartphone via Denon Remote App (works for both iOS and Android). However, if you prefer using the tablet to control your equipment with the help of apps, the manufacturer managed to create a special app for large screen sizes.
The Denon AVR-X3100W specs make the receiver good for both music and movies: the sound is volumetric enough for action movies and smooth enough for listening to your favorite tracks. The video quality is also quite decent, as for me.
The 7.2-channel amplifier (rated at 105W per channel) makes the sound of the receiver powerful. It also features more technologies for surround sound reproduction (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Pro Logic IIz, and DTS Neo:X) than most of the other similar receivers.
The receiver has 8 HDMI v2.0 inputs and 2 HDMI outputs. The RJ45 wired LAN port is useful to directly connect the receiver to your home network. For remote control compatibility with other home theater components, the receiver offers an IR remote control input. There are also composite in/out, component in/out, analog in/out, phono in, digital in (optical and coaxial), 2 subwoofer outs, and others.
With provided Quick Setup and an intuitive on-screen Setup Assistant, the installation of this receiver is truly hassle-free. For example, to get a stereo sound from one source, you just need to hook up your speaker system to the multi-room amplified outputs. It’s even possible to control the setup via a web browser on your computer.
To sum up this Denon AVR-X3100W review, I would like to say that this receiver should definitely be on your shortlist if you value such features as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and AirPlay. It mainly focuses on providing a high-quality volumetric sound, but it’s also certified by the Imaging Science Foundation for video quality, so it’s safe to say that you probably won’t be disappointed if you purchase this receiver for watching movies.
