Sony KD55X720E vs XBR55X900F

The Sony KD55X720E vs XBR55X900F testing shows that, despite the fact that TVs belong to different series (X720E and X900F), they demonstrate good practical properties. All the X720E models are provided with great smartphone connectivity and Motionflow XR, while the X900F representatives are fitted with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Picture

The Sony XBR55X900F vs KD55X720E intercomparison reveals the picture difference. The first model has very bright and sated colors that are close to natural. The second one is pleased with difficult rendering deep reds which are shifted toward orange. The greens displaying is overthrown towards yellow, while the XBR55X900F demonstrates to me deep green without artificial shades. The 4K Ultra HD picture clarity is decent on both devices.

Features & Performance

Despite the similar manufacturer, the sound differs greatly on these units. The KD55X720E has muffled sound, and even manual adjustment can’t change that. The XBR55X900F doesn’t have such a problem. The sound by default is loud and vivid, with voices and nature noises distinction. The XBR55X900F is supplemented with Dolby Surround feature, so it’s a better choice for epic movies watching. At the same time, it’s useful to compare the streaming services diversity because such a process allows me to discover that among basic channels, the KD55X720E has a YouTube, which is absent on the XBR55X900F.

Design & Build quality

Both devices have 3 USB, but the 2018-year unit has bigger HDMI number (4 versus 3). I pay attention only to one issue: the KD55X720E has a solid stand that provides less stability in comparison with XBR55X900F’s wide legs. The build quality is great, but I don’t like the XBR55X900F’s scratch marks on the legs. The KD55X720E looks gorgeous and is free from visual defects.

Sony KD55X720E Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • The app navigation is perfect. Everything is clear and I even don’t need to look for additional information in manual.
  • My Wi-Fi network works very quickly and the initial setup is implemented in a few seconds.

Cons:

  • There are limited picture adjustments. I can’t choose individual colors for certain channels.
  • Nearly half of all menu options are ghosted and I can’t implement them.

Sony XBR55X900F Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • The device stays cool even in hard-working conditions.
  • The setup is simple and straightforward.

Cons:

  • The remote has a very strange design. The buttons are jammed together and I barely can press them consistently.
  • The start-up takes nearly 15 seconds.
