I had a chance to test and compare Samsung 50NU7100 vs TCL 49S405. Samsung 50NU7100 (a 2018 year model) belongs to the NU71000 series and TCL 49S405 (a 2017 year model) is from S405 series. Both series include other reasonably-priced TVs with many functions. These two models belong to the low price category since they cost less than $500. Samsung 50NU7100 uses the Edge LED backlight technology, while TCL 49S405 uses the Direct LED technology.
