Choice of Optoma HD27 vs Epson Home Cinema 2150 is balancing between sharper contrast and fuller brightness, longer throw distance, and better picture detailing. Both models represent the high-quality middle-class projectors, while more lens mobility of the Epson versus higher connection versatility of the Optoma.
The projectors differ in specifications varying in brightness and contrast. The F-number of Optoma model is higher (so is the focal length) enabling very bright image with even lumens distribution. Meanwhile, the Epson Home Cinema offers better color reproduction range and more contrast due to the higher ratio of 60000:1 (in comparison with Optoma’s 25000:1). Its projection distance is also higher, while the focal length is 4 mm less than that of Optoma model. The two times higher resolution of the Epson Home Cinema 2150 enables dense picture without screen door effect. The HD27 picture is also smooth due to the integrated DLP matrix.
By opposing Epson Home Cinema 2150 vs Optoma HD27, the Epson Home Cinema 2150 is much larger and heavier than the Optoma HD27, making the installation a bit more of a concern. However, it is compensated with the ability of keystone adjustment both vertically and horizontally (up to 30 degrees) and higher zoom potential. The good throw ratio of both projectors allows positioning them at different distance to the screen. Still, the image of the Optoma HD27 looks more composed against the white wall. On the dark screen, both projectors perform equally well. With the 2150, the only way to adjust the focus and zoom is manual bar sliding, while the HD27 allows doing that via the remote / menu.
