When I decided to compare Onkyo TX-NR676 vs Denon AVRX3400H, I have been guided by the desire to test the most interesting representatives of famous brands. The first thing to draw my attention was the operational power consumption difference: Onkyo had 560W, while Denon – 600W.
Features & Performance
After Denon AVRX3400H vs Onkyo TX-NR676 specs comparison, I mentioned also the output impedance per channel difference. The first model had 6 Ohms/8 Ohms and the second one – 4 Ohms. The Denon built-in amp was inferior in sound quality to the Onkyo. Moreover, the AirPlay on TX-NR676 worked really awful. I suffered from the mistimed audio and video, delays in volume changing. Thank God, after the firmware updating the problem disappeared. With AVRX3400H there were no issues from the beginning. The FM signals also differed. Onkyo had poorer radio quality, while Denon presented all the 40 stations without noise and pauses.
Connections & Setup
The calibration for Onkyo was easy and I reached the desirable sound very fast. With Denon appeared some issues. Perhaps, the reason was in very thin drywall in my room, but I had to do all the setting operations manually. Thanks to the built-in Spotify app it was easy to set up the best sound for streaming music in both AVRX3400H and TX-NR676.
Design
Choosing between Denon AVRX3400H or Onkyo TX-NR676 design decisions was hard, but after detailed inspection, I made a conclusion: Onkyo has a more modern appearance. The tight-angled buttons and big bright display were really useful. They added to the receiver the practical charm, which was supplemented by the rich black color of the box. The Denon had more simple design and less bright display. Both products had ventilation holes, but after a long work, the lowest temperature of the corps had AVRX3400H.
Onkyo TX-NR676 Pros & Cons
Pros:
- It was easy to control the content and volume of the Second Zone.
- Alexa voice control was perfect, but I had to buy the additional device for it.
- All the HDMI inputs (7) worked smoothly.
Cons:
- The menu control wasn’t perfect. I even got lost in the amount of information.
- I had to configure the sleep timer every day.
Denon AVRX3400H Pros & Cons
Pros:
- The remote was simple, functional, and comfortable for use.
- The phones demonstrated the juicy sound of my vinyl turntable.
- The internet radio allowed to listen to the foreign stations.
Cons:
- Even with the best cable, the audio signal didn’t pass from the TV to the Onkyo via ARC.
- There were no printed manuals. I had to look for it on the Internet and print by myself.
